Short Week in the Visa World
Monday marks a federal holiday which will celebrate Martin Luther King Jr and the Presidential inauguration. This will result in a mass amount of closures at the Consulates and Government office. As for government offices this will mean all passport offices and all Department of State affiliated offices. Additionally, because of the magnitude of security and the lockdown of the city, our DC office will be closing at noon on the 21st. The rest of our nationwide offices will be open with limited staff.
Thursday is another important holiday in the Islamic world, which is known as Mawlid Al-Nabi, which is the celebration of the Prophet’s Mohamed’s birthday. This holiday will cause mass closures at most Islamic Embassies. While a complete list has not been released it can be safe to assume that the majority will be closed. We will provide updates as more become available.
As always with Embassy and government office closures, it means there we will not be able to submit any applications or pick up any passports. It is very important to plan your travel schedule accordingly and to NOT count that day as a day of processing. We always strive to keep our closure list updated and will immediately provide you with an update if one is found out that day.
