Process Overview

Prerequisites to apply for a New Passport

Applicant is a US citizen 16 years or older, AND;
Applicant has never been issued a U.S. Passport, OR;
Applicant was under 16 years old when most recent passport was issued OR;
Applicant has not had a U.S. Passport issued for more than 15 years

Once all documents listed below are gathered, the applicant must visit a government employee known as an Acceptance Agent in person. The Acceptance Agent will review all documents, witness the applicant sign their passport application, and seal the documents in an envelope. This “sealed envelope” is then delivered to Travel Visa Pro for processing with the U.S. Department of State.

Acceptance Agents are available at most Post Offices and Court Houses. Locations can be found at the link below.

Proof of Citizenship

Applicant must submit an original or certified copy of a “long form” birth certificate, U.S. naturalization certificate or previous U.S. passport.

Proof of Identification

Applicant must present a valid driver’s license, state-issued ID or official government or military issued ID issued more than six months ago to the Acceptance Agent.

Passport Photos

Applicant must submit two (2) identical, color, passport style photographs (no glasses may be worn). The photos must be recent.

You can upload the approved digital photos to us through your TVP Document Upload Link or at link below and we will print at no additional cost if you have ordered VIP concierge and just $30 for all other orders. It will then be scanned and verified for Department of State compliance. We will print and ship the photos to you back via FedEx 2nd Day shipment and you will just take them with rest of your passport package to your appointment with an acceptance agent.

Proof of Immediate Travel

The applicant must submit an immediate proof of travel within the next 14 calendar days (or up to 4 weeks if requiring a travel visa). If you do not have a proof of immediate travel or a proof of any travel, but want to order a rush passport service, please contact us for assistance.

What is an acceptable proof of travel:

– Airline Booking;
– Flight Confirmation from a travel agency or online booking tool;
– Charter/Private plane flight Manifest;
– Cruise Itinerary;
– Hotel Booking in Canada or Mexico bordering the USA;
– Letter from an Employer;
– School Admission Letter;
– International Conference/Expo Invitation;
– Car Rental Agreement to enter Canada/Mexico;
– International Yach Rental;
– Family Emergency document (i.e. death certificate, hospital letter, etc);
– OR something of similar nature.

Government Fees

The cost of an expedited adult U.S. passport is $190. This fee must be paid at the Acceptance Agent by personal check or money order (you can purchase a money order at a Post Office using cash or a debit card, not a credit card).

The Acceptance Agent will also charge a fee of $35 for verifying applicants identity. Most Acceptance Agents accept cash, personal check, postal money order, debit or credit card.

Letter of Authorization (LOA)

Applicant must submit a “Letter of Authorization” which allows Travel Visa Pro to process the application with the U.S. State Department. The LOA must be original and may only be signed in blue or black ink.

Please follow the instructions provided in the linked document below.

Emergency U.S. Passport FAQs

When should I use the emergency passport service?
Emergency or urgent passport service is typically for travelers who need to travel internationally within 14 calendar days, need a foreign visa within 28 calendar days, or have a life-or-death emergency involving an immediate family member abroad within the next 2 weeks.
What are the current passport processing times?
The State Department currently lists routine processing at about 4–6 weeks and expedited processing at about 2–3 weeks, not including mailing times.
Can I go directly to a passport agency for emergency service?
Passport agencies and centers serve customers by appointment only. They handle urgent travel for those leaving within 14 days or needing a visa within 28 days, but appointments are not guaranteed. Travel Visa Pro can manage this process more quickly for you. Call us at 1-833-TVP-VISA to learn about your options.
What qualifies as a life-or-death passport emergency?
A life-or-death emergency may qualify if you must travel within 2 weeks because an immediate family member outside the United States has died, is dying, or has a life-threatening illness or injury.
How much does an emergency passport cost?
Travel Visa Pro’s emergency passport fees depend on how quickly you actually need your passport. Our 3-day service fee is $999 while the 2-day fee is $1,299, not including government fees. Call us at 1-833-TVP-VISA to find out about final costs and possibly faster options.
What's the difference between applying through Travel Visa Pro and going directly to the state department?
When you apply through Travel Visa Pro, we review your documents for errors, handle submission on your behalf, and provide real-time tracking. Going direct means managing the entire process yourself with limited support if issues arise.
