A certificate of origin is an international trade document confirming that the good or commodity in a particular export shipment has been wholly obtained, manufactured, produced or processed in a particular country.
A Certificate of Origin may be Non-preferential or preferential – which confirms that the products are subject to reduced tariffs or exemptions when they are exported to countries that extend these special treatments.
To confirm the validity of the Certificate for international trade, the original or a certified copy of the CO is processed for apostille/legalization by the Secretary of State in the state which the manufacturing business is located.
