Luckily, you don’t have to apply for a Chinese Visa again. The Chinese government allows you to travel carrying both passports: a current valid US passport without a visa and an expired passport with the valid ten­-year Chinese visa. If you lose your passport, however, you will have to apply for a visa again.

If the main purpose of your visit/trip is business, trade affairs, or commercial discussions then you must apply for a business visa to China. However, you are allowed to tour the country with a business visa. You do not need a separate Chinese tourist visa to see China’s cultural heritage.

In addition to all required paperwork, you should request a business invite from the inviting company in China.

You can apply for electronic visa waiver (EVW) instead of a visa if you have a passport from Kuwait, Oman, Qatar or the United Arab Emirates. An EVW lets you visit the UK for up to 6 months for tourism, business, study or medical treatment.

The visa application must be submitted no earlier than 24-36 hours after and no later than 2 weeks after biometric submission.

You must book your biometric appointment at a US Department of Homeland Security application support centre (ASC) when your online application is completed and payment is made online. This is to have your photo and fingerprints taken (known as ‘biometric information’). When you visit the ASC for your biometrics appointment, please take your current passport, a print out of your application form and a copy of your biometric confirmation receipt. You can print your receipt when you apply online.

You can ask to cancel by writing personal request (please include Your personal information and application ID number, sign it) for withdrawal of the process. You will get your refund for the application if it hasn’t been processed.

• If your card has ten year validity you can apply for a book with a DS-82 and instead of providing a book to be renewed, you would use your passport card. Both will be returned when the new book is issued.
• If your card has only five year validity, you will have to apply for a book with a DS-11 and have your documents executed by an Acceptance Agent as outlined in our New Passport section.
