Did you know that Haiti has the second longest coastline of beaches? It’s no wonder people cannot get enough of it. It’s the perfect spot for anyone who wants to explore sandy beaches, gaze at mountainous ranges, swim in clear water, hike some of the tallest peaks in the Caribbean, and explore Haitian culture – almost everything a tourist would ever want to do. Of course, there is the small matter of paperwork which you must get done before leaving for this tropical dream. And the most common query among Haiti-bound travelers is, do you need a passport to go to Haiti?

Do You Need a Passport to Go to Haiti?

All Americans traveling to Haiti must have a passport to get past immigration. The passport should:

  1. Be valid, i.e., not damaged, not expired, and not altered,
  2. Have at least 6 months of validity, and
  3. Have one page per stamp.

Not having a passport that meets these requirements will have you turned away at immigration. If you need to process a new passport or renew your current one, you can do so by talking to our agents via 833-TVP-VISA (917-671-0728). We handle all sorts of passport services and will be glad to help.

The Haitian government allows U.S. citizens to travel to Haiti provided they have valid passports and relevant visas. If you are traveling for fewer than 90 days, you do not need a visa. But if you are traveling for longer than this or for a reason besides tourism, you should process the relevant visa.

  2. Buy a SIM: If your phone is unlocked, you can buy a local SIM, which is much cheaper than paying for roaming rates. Some of the trusted providers are COMCEL, HaiTel, and Digicel. Their packages are pretty affordable.
